9/52 Batman Returns

I wanted to do this picture for months, but I didn’t have enough strobes, then when I had, I did other stuff, but it’s here finally. A few months ago I saw an awesome image from one of my favorite photographers, Ben Von Wong, which inspired me to do this picture. And I instantly knew I needed to use my Batman T-shirt for this…

I was planning to do a shoot with downhill bikers this week, but that has been rescheduled to next week, so I had to think about something today. I was in IKEA, so I quickly bought some black fabric, which I used as my black seamless background.

Lighting is similar to last week’s picture, two YongNuo 560 IIs as rim lights, flagged, but this time the third light is another YongNuo 560 II (oh yes, now I have 3 YongNuos!) under the camera with a grid AND a snoot on it, zoomed in to 105 millimeters, so it only illuminates the Batman logo.

The other part is pretty easy: I put the camera on a tripod, pre-focused, and set it on self-timer, put my cool Batman T-shirt and leather jacket on and started shooting. Post processing is also relatively simple: simple curves adjustments and desaturating all colors, except yellow.

Settings for the shot:
Exposure: 1/160 sec
Aperture: F8
ISO: 100
Focal length: 50mm
Camera: Canon 40D +50 F1.8
