22/52 Anna & Márk

Yes, I know I’m a week late, but I swear I’m trying to catch up… This week a friend of mine, Márk asked me to do a picture of him with his girlfriend, Anna (actually you may have seen Márk in one of the older pictures of this project), and of course I said yes.

I admit, the shoot went terribly, everything failed on me, all the flashes ran out of battery at once, the radio trigger broke, I had to optically trigger my flashes and my white background was totally messed up… I was never so angry on a photoshoot before.

First I started with many lights, all in softboxes, but at the end I decided to do something classic and simple: one big shoot-through umbrella as a main light paired with a bare hair light and triggered by my crappy Chang-Yin flash on camera (pointed away from the scene, otherwise it would have messed things up, on camera flash is simply not acceptable in studio).

In the end we ended up with a few usable images, but everyone felt a bit disappointed… I felt very disappointed. Though lesson learned, next time I’ll buy better flash triggers (so don’t do the same mistake as me, don’t buy Fotga PT-04 TM triggers, go for the YongNuo ones, just slightly more expensive, but a lot better as I heared).

Settings for the shot:
Exposure: 1/160 sec
Aperture: F8
ISO: 100
Focal length: 50mm
Camera: Canon 40D + EF 50mm F1.8
