Week 42 & 43

It’s time for another double blogpost! The two images are totally different, but I took them on the same photoshoot, the locations were just a couple hundred meters apart.

It actually started as a natural light shoot to get a couple of pictures of my sister in the new dress she designed and made, but of course since we were in such a fantastic location (took about an hour of hiking to get there) I decided to take a second, maybe more surreal shot, a self portrait.

It seemed like a great idea to hike out into nature with a ton of photo equipment, but of course we forgot that in nature we might meet animals, like for example mosquitoes. Probably the toughest part of the shoot was enduring all the bites of these stupid annoying animals. I mean I’m all for protecting animals and I love most of them, but mosquitoes really get on my nerves…

So the shots on the field were done simply by using a gold reflector, but the weird-surreal-lights-flying picture took some more work. I set down a tripod, took a blank photo of the background, then one with me sitting on the ground lit by an octobox and then a ton of pictures of lights dangling on a fishing line from a lightstand. Then long and boring hours in photoshop…

Settings for the shots:
Exposure: 1/1600 sec (for the portrait of Zsófi), 1/100 (for self portrait)
Aperture: F1.8
ISO: 100
Focal length: 50mm
Camera: Canon 40D + EF 50mm F1.8
